Creating Dialogue with Allah

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh!

In Shaa Allah you all are doing well and are in best of health and imaan.

This is our first blog post, and what better topic is there than to discuss our connection with the Quran. As Muslims living in today's world, we often tend to get really busy with our lives and distracted by the world around us. From the moment we first wake up to the moment we fall asleep, most of us have a day to day routine. Some of us have a lot going on, while for others it might be very simple. However, no matter how busy our lives get or what our routines are like- one thing we all should strive to include in our routines is building a connection with the Quran. These are the words of Allah, and as such we should all make at least a minimal effort to understand the weight of these words. We don't have to start by reading a Juzz a day, we can start with one Ayah. The Quran is a guidance for all mankind, and pondering over its meaning helps to absorb its light. The image below is a hadith that explains how Surah Fatihah has two parts and one part is for Allah and the other part is for us. Every time we recite an Ayah from Surah Fatihah, Allah has a response to what we say. This got me thinking why can't we do this with the entire Quran? My challenge for you all is- every time you recognize a word from the Quran, try to make a quick Dua' using that word. For example, you're listening to/ reading an Ayah and the word Jannah appears, make a quick dua' asking Allah for it. Or, if you see words like Nar or Jahannam‐ ask Allah for his protection from it. The challenge is to start creating a dialogue with Allah whilst reading, or listening to the Quran. This can be done with so many different words. When you see Sabr, ask Allah to make you more patient. When you see the word Imaan, ask Allah to increase your faith. Even with words that are less obvious like Qalb(heart), when you see it ask Allah to turn your heart towards this religion. There is always a way of turning each Ayah, or a section of Ayahs into an opportunity to converse with Allah. It's simply up to us to make the effort. A reminder to myself first In Shaa Allah.
